MAHARASHTRA STATE CERTIFICATE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
 

BACKGROUND

     Higher and Technical Education Department (HTED), Government of Maharashtra appointed Professor Ram Takwale Committee in January 2000 to offer recommendations on universalization and integration of IT in all the institutions dedicated to Higher and Technical Education in the state.

The Committee submitted its report to the Government on April 25, 2000

     The Committee recommended creation of a special purpose agency viz. Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation for speedy, effective and self-supporting universalization and integration of IT in Higher and Technical Education in the state. Government appointed a Special Working Group under the chairmanship of Honorable Minister Shri. Dilip Valse Patil on July 26, 2000 to implement the recommendations of the committee.

     MS-CIT (Maharashtra State Certification in Information Technology) program is a joint venture of HTED, Training Provider and Educational Institutions initially in about 425 different Educational institutions i.e. in ITI's; Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, B.Ed. Colleges; Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics, etc.

     MS-CIT Programme was launched at the hands of Honorable Chief Minister Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh on November 14, 2000.

     Government Approval was accorded for the establishment of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited on June 06, 2001.

     MKCL was incorporated under the Company's Act 1956 on August 20, 2001.

     To develop world class, globally competitive, flexible and value based education system responsive to the individual, institutional and social development needs of the people of Maharashtra and India.

MISSION

     To integrate in a self sustainable manner IT education and IT enabled education with the basic teaching, learning process and its management, so as to accomplish the Vision.

GOAL

     The Goal is to prepare the graduates for the knowledge-based economy, champion the cause of life long learning and stimulate the creation of world class resource through IT.
